Parkins Bay

Just to make things a little more interesting my parents are living out their dream to build a championship golf course called the Parkins Bay Golf Course Preserve.

We are currently waiting for an environment court hearing decision but have obtained permission from the council which is great. The golf course and restaurant will be open to the public as will the many walking and biking tracks. We want as many families to enjoy what we regard as one of the most beautiful pieces of lakefront in New Zealand. It is in our view that if we are proactive now and build a beautiful links style course on our shores and also a club house and restaurant on the lake front it’s members and community will protect it for the 100’s of years to come. There is no guarantee that a generational farming family could offer the same protection especially in these current economic times.

If the golf course was to proceed we would like to think that my sisters and parents will be able to continue their tourism company while still attached to the property providing a wedding and function venue. Glendhu Station could then have the opportunity to provide high quality organic produce to our own family restaurant which will be part of this wonderful facility. There would also be an option for the dwelling owners to be supplied with fresh local organic produce directly from the farm as well.
